There are several ways to make your new car insurance premium go down, but one of the ones that relates most to your car is making sure that you drive out of the car lot with the best safety features. Car insurance companies do business based on statistics and groups, and if your high performance car falls into a group that doesn’t do so well in the area of claims statistics, then you will get charged higher rates for insuring it. However, if you get safety features on your car, then you will have a better chance.

One of the main safety features that car insurance companies want you to have is air bags. This shouldn’t be a problem, as it would take some serious effort to find a car made in the last ten years that does not have air bags. I think my car is the only one I’ve seen that didn’t have air bags, but it was made the year I was born, so that’s no surprise. When we got them installed, our car insurance premium went down.

A few other things that you should add both to get cheaper new car insurance and also because they are great in helping you control your car in bad conditions, are traction control and electronic stability control. They won’t always be called by the same name with every manufacturer, but if you ask for electronic stability control they will know what you are talking about. These help decrease problems from slippery roads and help you to gain control of your vehicle when it gets a little out of hand.
