According to this clip from The Man Show, men pay around forty percent more than women due for car insurance coverage. So why does cheap woman car driver insurance exist? Although this funny video points out plenty of cases of women driving badly, overall the statistics show that men are more likely to get into at fault car accidents, drive recklessly, and make car insurance claims than women are.

The statistical difference starts at a young age. As soon as young men and women get their driver’s licenses there is a big difference between the amount that they or their parents pay for their car insurance coverage. While teenage girls car insurance premiums cost about fifty percent more than an older person’s does, for teenage boys that rate jumps to a hundred percent more–yep, that’s a full twice as much as an older person’s car insurance premium.

It does get better as you get older. Although men statistically skew towards higher car insurance rates, after the age of twenty five this becomes less the case. As car insurance rates drop for everybody, the gap between male drivers and female drivers also decreases. It’s also the case that in the past few years we have a seen a rise in car insurance claims made by female drivers coupled with a drop in car insurance claims made by male drivers. While they are still not close to each other, if this continues then ten years down the line it may be that women are paying more for men on their car insurance premiums.
