Reader question:
If you get into an at fault car insurance accident, but it’s the other driver who is at fault, and you don’t have car insurance yourself, then what happens?
Judy
That’s a great question, Judy.
There’s really no difference in what would happen at all for the most part, considering that when you are not at fault for an accident then you will be dealing only with the other person’s car insurance company. You might have to worry about a ticket from the officer filing a police report, but beyond that, nothing. However, if you are in a no fault car insurance state, then things get more complicated should you be injured in the accident and have nowhere to file a personal injury protection claim.
